About WHIMS

Made by Hand. Backed by Registration.

We're a curated trade house for India's finest handmade home decor, built for the buyers who can tell the difference between made and made by hand.

Every WHIMS piece begins the same way: a craftsperson, a material they've worked for years or decades, and a small decision only a human hand can make. A carver deciding how deep to cut a vine-leaf pattern. A potter judging exactly when a glaze has taken. A block-printer pressing dye into cloth by feel, not by measurement.

We didn't invent any of that. India's artisan lineages, its GI-tagged crafts spanning wood, pottery, and textile, already carry centuries of proof that this way of making things works, and that it's worth protecting. What WHIMS does is build the bridge: sourcing from registered, GI-backed craft clusters, vetting every collection to export standard, and putting it in front of the wholesale buyers who know real handmade work when they see it.

We work in two registers, and we don't confuse them. Publicly, we speak like the trade house we are: clear terms, real MOQs, straightforward pricing. Directly, with the buyers building a serious relationship with us, we can talk provenance, rarity, and story in as much depth as they want. Either way, nothing we say about a piece is invented. If we call something GI-tagged, it's because it is.

What We Stand On

Four things that don't move

Every collection traces to a registered GI craft cluster. Origin, technique, certification, all real, never invented.

No machine-finished shortcuts. If a step can be done by hand, it is, even when it takes longer.

Export-vetted to US and EU standard, with clear MOQ and lead-time terms, no surprises after you've committed.

A single paid sample is a legitimate first step, not a formality, before you ever commit to a bulk order.

"Every artisan leaves a trace of themselves in the work: a stroke a little freer, a curve a little deeper than the last. That unrepeatable trace is the whim we are named for, and it is the one thing mass production will never own."
